ELECTRIC LIZARD
Dubrock is what they live and sing and certainly look like. There is, for instance, Anwar, the djémbe man, afro hairdo and an attitude. Monkey yells and moon walks, too. Then comes Sebastian, the true archetypical front man, singing rough and soulfully, being all that , playing a roaring g-spot bass at the same time. Jake, a true son of a preacherman, proud heir to the late John Bonham backs them funky and solid as a rock ´longside his soul brother Thomas, hair down to his ass, guitar down to his knees and the volume way up. Tradition is cool. The old school passed it on and these four keep it up and do their thing and manage to sound fresh like they invented that shit - seems like they are connected to something older and greater than all of us. Their groove dominates everyone at the club or in front of the stereo, real ghettoblaster rock. A two-drummer band doesn´t exactly sound fragile but who´d want that anyway? So start dancing, brothers and sisters, here´s Electric Lizard. I´ve seen them play ragga grooves to a Monster Magnet audience and it worked, like hip hop was attacking Led Zeppelin, Reef jamming with the MC5. Rollins says they´re lovely, Cronin says a rock´n´roll band with congas is satanic, man, you´ve got it right there, go see them live! Quit feeling sorry for yourself!
